Is this $2k fee typical?

A year ago, I had (and still have) errors on my tax returns for 2019-2022 for my LLC, which holds a rental property and is linked to my personal tax. The tax accounting company charged me $2k after our meeting :flushed:. I did not agree, but they pulled the money from my account anyway without a contract, invoice, or explanation of the rates.

They looked into my 2021 and 2022 personal returns and a form I didn’t file in 2019 :spiral_calendar:.

Is this charge reasonable? Every time I asked for an explanation, the owner said I already owed more than $2k. I’m scared about extra charges as my finances are tight, so I haven’t asked for the invoice yet. I feel confused and kinda pissed . For $2k, I didn’t even get a complete amended return filed.

What can I do? Is there any way to ask for a partial refund? If the charge is normal, then I apologize for my ignorance.

That $2k charge seems pretty high, especially without a clear invoice. You should definitely ask the tax company for a detailed breakdown of the fees. It’s worth pushing for a partial refund if you’re not satisfied with what you got.

Yes, i think $2k fee is actually typicall.

A year ago, I faced a similar issue with my tax accounting firm. I had errors on my LLC’s returns, and the firm charged me $2,000 without clear justification or a proper contract. They withdrew the funds from my account without an invoice or detailed explanation, which left me feeling confused and frustrated. When I questioned the charges, they claimed I owed more than $2,000, but I hadn’t received a complete amended return. If you’re in a tight financial spot, it’s essential to request a detailed invoice and documentation of services provided. It might also be worth contacting a legal advisor or consumer protection agency for assistance. If the charge seems unreasonable, seeking a partial refund or addressing the issue formally could be necessary steps.
