Why is resigning Teo so tricky … luxury tax issues?

The Dodgers are facing some tough decisions when it comes to resigning Teoscar. The luxury tax penalty is making it complicated, and people are debating if it’s worth it to bring him back. What do you all think?

I hope we don’t lose Teo after Buetane already left. We need to keep him.

If it’s between Teo and adding Kiké Hernández and Roki, I’d go for Kiké and Roki. Maybe give Pages or Rushing a chance too.

Why not try platooning Rushing and Pages in left? Rushing looks ready. AAA won’t help him much now.

@Roan
It looks like Conforto might be the pick for LF. Since Rushing bats left, maybe he could work in RF instead?

Rushing throws right-handed, and which arm you throw with doesn’t really decide if you play LF or RF.

@Jensen
I was thinking more about platooning. Conforto and Rushing both bat left, so they wouldn’t be a good platoon match.

Conforto has played RF before, and the Dodgers could rotate Rushing in LF, Edman in CF, and Conforto in RF against right-handers. For lefties, Pages could step in. But honestly, Rushing doesn’t have much experience in the outfield yet.

Does it even matter if we don’t get another ring?

The point is, that money could be used somewhere else to boost our chances even more.

With the current roster, spending on a right-handed power bat or a top-tier lefty reliever seems smart. If not, maybe just bring back Kiké for depth and go with that. The team looks playoff-ready anyway.

Teo has been so important to this team. People overlook his impact. He cleaned up from the 4 spot all year, and his fielding made a difference too.

It’s not my money, so why should I care?

Because if they don’t spend it on Teoscar, they could use it for other players.

Like who though?

@Dale
Maybe a reliever. And they’re probably thinking about future free agents over the next couple of years too.

Teo adds depth to the outfield and makes Ohtani happy … just get it done. This team prints money.

Do we really need more outfield depth though? Betts, Edman, Conforto, Pages, Taylor, and maybe even Rushing are options. Signing someone just because you have money can backfire, like the Mets. The Dodgers have been smart spenders, and that’s what keeps them competitive every year.

@Peyton
Teo’s value is more about his bat and personality than his fielding. The question is how long his bat stays effective, especially with his injury history and defensive decline.

The Conforto signing doesn’t make much sense if they’re tight on money.
