CashApp Taxes is free. You can also mail it in. TurboTax lobbies to stop the IRS from offering free online filing.

If your taxes are simple, you can still file for free. After finishing your return, check the menu to downgrade to the free version.

Print out the forms, fill them out by hand, and mail them to the IRS. Old-school style.

Their ads say it’s only free if you’re a first-time user. FreeTaxUSA is better.

Yeah, they use shady tactics to push people into paid versions. But some folks might’ve upgraded by accident too.
