Taxes… good, bad, or just necessary?

Taxes are necessary for society to function—schools, roads, law enforcement—but governments do waste a lot of money. Spending needs to be smarter.

Waste is a fair point, but cutting taxes too much can hurt people who rely on public services. There’s got to be a balance.

Taxes can be good or bad, depending on how they’re used. Carbon taxes, for example, help discourage pollution. But high taxes that hurt working people? Not so great.

I’m okay with paying taxes if it means better healthcare, schools, and roads. A good tax system helps everyone.

Private charities could handle most of that. Governments just add layers of waste and inefficiency.

@Voss
I get what you mean, but here in Australia, relying too much on private charities failed. They couldn’t keep up with demand.

Taxes aren’t theft. You’re using public services like roads, schools, and healthcare that rely on taxes to function. It’s just paying for what you use.

The real issue isn’t taxes—it’s wasted money. My local government spends thousands every month on unused phones. Imagine how much better things could be if we tracked spending more carefully.
