Pennsylvania Tax on Clothing

Hey everyone,

Just got into a debate with a friend about sales tax in Pennsylvania. They swear there’s no tax on clothes, but I could’ve sworn I paid tax on that fancy new jacket recently. So, what’s the deal with clothing and sales tax in PA? Are most clothes tax-free, or are there exceptions? Trying to avoid any surprise tax situations next shopping trip

hi oliviah take this consideration, everyday clothing items such as t-shirts, jeans, sneakers, underwear, socks, and pajamas are not subject to sales tax. However, formal wear (like suits and gowns), sporting apparel and equipment (such as helmets and baseball gloves), fur clothing (real or imitation), and costumes are taxable.
