Got a 1099K from eBay but my records say more… Can I use mine?

Check if eBay reported some sales in a different year. If they counted a January sale as December, it could throw things off. You don’t want to overreport this year and then have extra income reported again next year.

That shouldn’t be the case. 1099K is based on the calendar year.

Why is the number off? Could it be payments made through a third party? You should report the real number, but it’s worth checking why the 1099 doesn’t match.

I think it’s because of returns and discounts. My records include them, but eBay’s 1099 doesn’t. My fees, shipping, and cost of goods are separate, so it’s just the way I track revenue. I might try to break it down, but I don’t want to introduce errors.
