I’m trying to choose between TaxDome, ShareFile, and DocuSign. We use ShareFile for file transfers now, but I’d need to add the KBA option. We use DocuSign for e-signatures, but it’s getting pricey.
I tried TaxDome’s free trial and liked some parts of it, but it felt a bit clunky. Any suggestions?
We’re on SafeSend. It has KBA and is pretty easy for clients. Some get confused by the notifications, but if they don’t close it out, we can do it for them. Works well for sharing organizers and documents. It tracks what was sent and opened, who signed, and even sends reminders for estimated payments. It’s been great for us.
Sure, SafeSend charges by the number of returns, in bundles. We started with 250 returns for $5,000, which is $20 per return. It gets cheaper with higher volumes—1,000+ is $18.75 each, and so on. Saves us a lot of time compared to emailing everything and following up manually.
Also, SafeSend does more than signatures. It’s used for sending encrypted files to clients too, which is super helpful.
We recently demoed SafeSend, and it looks solid. Lots of functions, connects with CCH Axcess, and clients seem to find it user-friendly. Can’t wait to get it running so I can focus on other tasks instead.

Some clients may need a bit of help at first. I’d suggest having staff try it out so they understand the client side of things. Even our older clients, who used to get paper, are adapting to it.

We use CCH Axcess, so good to know SafeSend integrates. Do you know the pricing?
It’s tiered by the number of returns and feature level. They have three tiers, and there’s not a huge difference between the middle and top. Highest price I saw was $24 per return for under 1,000 returns. They also offer an Adobe plug-in, which could replace PDFlyer and save us a bit.
Surprised Acrobat Pro doesn’t come up more for e-signing. It’s under $300 a year, includes unlimited e-signatures, and adds lots of helpful PDF features. Seems like it does all the essentials, and it’s way cheaper than most options.
@Storm
I think KBA with Acrobat Pro costs extra and may only be available with a business subscription. But since the KBA requirement has been extended indefinitely, I’ve been using Adobe’s e-signature without KBA.
